The Opportunity:
As a Senior Accountant you will be an integral part of our growing accounting team. Positioned in our Factoring business unit, in this role you will work on a mix of financial reporting and financial analysis. You will also get the opportunity to work closely with the divisional controller on process improvement and overall strategy of the accounting department offering a unique opportunity to see tangible results of your actions. Responsibilities:
- Financial reporting - Assist and ensure accuracy in the generation of financial reports, statements, and summaries.
- Financial analysis - Prepare analysis to describe the story behind the numbers and effectively convey messages to decision making management.
- Account reconciliation - Conduct and review reconciliations of various financial accounts to ensure precision in financial reporting.
- Month-end and Year-end Close - Contribute to a timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Process improvement - Be on the lookout for potential process improvement and have a desire to increase team efficiency. Work closely with the divisional controller to improve and implement financial processes.
- Audit - Assist in both internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation, explanations and support as needed.
- Tax - Assist in the preparation and provide support to tax advisors for tax filings.
- Act like an owner - Take ownership over financial information and act as an extension of the divisional controller. Exercise professional judgement and question results.
- Collaboration – Collaborate with other staff members in the accounting department and in the offshore team to accomplish tasks. Provide training, coaching, and oversight on a regular basis. Effectively communicate with other departments analytical information and monitor the adherence to controls.
- Confidentiality - Demonstrate judgement, discretion, and confidentiality, while handling sensitive information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related degree.
- CPA designation or working towards CPA designation.
- 3+ years of experience in a public or corporate accounting role.
- Knowledge of accounting standards under US GAAP.
- Proficient in managing and analyzing large data sets with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented and deadline driven with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public accounting firm experience in audit.
- Experience with Sage 300 and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Experience in the fields of banking, asset management, or logistics.
- Experience with IFRS.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to meet business needs.
